Why wont my ps4 show up on my tv?

My ps4 hasn't been working for two days. I have tried 3 different HDMI cables, two tv's and it still wont work. Safe mode isn't coming up but my tv does recognize its connected to a playstation. Their is also sound coming through my headphones when connected to my controller. The light shows itstarted properly (blue light then white light). what should I do?

When you say safe mode isn't coming up, have you attached your controller to the PS4 via a usb cable? As that is the only way to get safe mode to start.

I had the exact same problem. I unplugged the ps4 for 24 hours and connected the hdmi into another port before turning it on. It worked! I then powered it off and then connected the cable back into the original port and it still worked. Not sure if it had something to do with the amount of time I had it unplugged or if it was switching ports.

My question is, my ps4 does this but only for one tv that I own, I’ve hooked up other things to the tv via the same HDMI cable and port and they work perfectly, I’ve also hooked up my ps4 to another tv in my room with no problems via HDMI so I know it’s not my ps4 either

by

Mine suddenly started doing this also !!

I have the same problem, but you have solved the problem.

Sounds like an HDMI port problem. This is very common with Ps4's, especially the older ones. Sometimes you can shine a flashlight into the port and see the bent pins. If the port looks good it can also be the encoder chip on the motherboard.

if it's the encoder chip how do we fix it?

by

To fix them you have to heat them until the solder melts, then place the new one in its place

Does not help AT ALL

by

It doesn't work because it beeps twice and then turns off

Ok so, I had the exact same problem, when you unplug your PS4 HDMI and turn and hold the PS4 power button for the second beep, it resets the PS4s resolution to 480p... chances are at one point or another you accidentally set the resolution to a high one than your tv can support... how I did that I have no idea and you problem don’t either. Your PS4 will then give you a menu to select an option from(one of them being adjust screen resolution). Hit that option and it will then prompt you to auto or manually set it... I just did it automatically and presto, it was set back to 1080p for the better quality. I instantly understood what was going on, if this doesn’t work for you, then sorry to tell you dude, but you’re gunna have to take it to Sony. Thanks for the help!!

Experienced this issue multiple times and these following steps seem to remedy the situation every single time.

  • Make sure to have both your tv and PS4 (PRO) powered off.
  • Make sure to have the HDMI-cable not connected to your PS4
  • Power-on your tv and set it to the corresponding HDMI-channel
  • Press and hold your PS4 (PRO) power button and wait for the second beep to occur (this will enable safe mode)
  • After you hear the second beep, connect your HDMI cable to your console
  • Safe Mode will then come online, make sure to check for new updates (i found out that this issue tends to come up everytime Sony pushes a new software update).
  • This update should remedy the situation, the console will most likely boot up a few times afterwards. Don’t cut the power on this boot sequence.
  • Afterwards the problem should be resolved. If not, go back into safe mode and check your resolution. Put this on 720p just to be sure -> you can always change it back to your preferred resolution when the console is fixed via Options -> Sound & Screen.

Hope this helps someone out there. Cheers!

I dont have ps4 pro i have the regular one

by

I only have the regular ps4

by

I've been using an analogue converter for an old tv, and the HDMI would work on others.

Now it only works through the converter. And I can't get the safe mode to trigger.

This is rediculous

by

Safe mode isn’t coming up on mine either so then what?

That's nice, let's blow more money on an allready over priced game, just to have some one push a button for 7 seconds.

Or you can use your brain ( if you've got more that 30 IQ) and fix the issue our self...

None of these have helped fix my issue. i’m going to have it tested at Game Stopthis morning. And if they can’t find the problem, then I am just going to buy a new one. I have tried everything on this page. And nothing works. My ps4 is not a Pro. It’s the Uncharted 4 edition game system. I’m guessing it’s because I’ve had mine for about 5 years and it is just worn out. We went to my sister in law’s and I hooked it up to her TV. We lost power at our house bcause of the tornados here in West Kentucky. It worked fine at her house. Then when we got back home, it won’t connect to the TV. I tried it on my other TV and it won’t work on it either. Lesson learned. I am not going to take my ps4 with me whenever we have to go somewhere else to stay. Lol

I've had my ps4 for 2 or 3 years and suddenly it stopped working. It switches on but the TV says 'no signal' and my controllers blink white. I don't even know if it's a pro or not but considering none of these options work, it might not be. I can't repair it at shop because HK is having a lock down soon so electronic stores are closing down temporarily. Not to mention I need the money for it. Which I wager it won't be cheap. So is there really no way to solve it?

I doubt I'll get a quick answer since this page hasn't been updated with responses in a long while so I'll probably copy and paste this on reddit somewhere. Still, I want to find answers as fast as possible.

Hi, during the last few weeks I tried all the ways found on the web but without success. Finally today I solved the problem using a hdmi switcher with the hdcp bypass (an adaptor that allows you to connect a device to two screens)
