Background and Identification
The Retro Duo twin video game system V3.0 is a video game console that is compatible with most NES and SNES (8-bit and 16-bit) games. It is a clone console, which is not endorsed, manufactured, produced, sponsored, or licensed by Nintendo of America, Inc. or Sega Corporation. It was made available by Retro-Bit in 2008 and distributed by Innex, Inc.. Unlike many other clone consoles, the Retro Duo is compatible with American, European, and Japanese games. However, there are games which are not compatible with the Retro Duo such as Maniac Mansion, ActRaiser 2, and Donkey Kong Country (refer to the Wikipedia page for the complete list).
The console is 13 x 11.2 x 3 inches and weighs 2.3 pounds with rounded front and back edges where the controller ports and AV/S and power ports are at. Although the Retro Duo comes with two controllers which look like the SNES controllers, it is also compatible with the original 16-bit controllers. The console also has reinforced cartridge doors and slide-proof bottom support. The back cartridge slot is for NES games while the one in the front is for SNES games.
There are five different color schemes for the Retro Duo V3.0: white/blue, silver/black, black/red, red/gold (limited edition), and red/blue (Mascot edition, not available in previous versions).
Each box includes the Retro Duo system, two controllers, AV/S Video cables, AC adapter, and instruction manual. However, the Retro Duo is a simple device and thus does not have much information on the box.
