pushed button, won't come on
Dryer was working fine, took out a dry load, put in a wet load, punched button to start and nothing happened. check the plug, it's good.
Is this a good question?

Thermal Fuse
The thermal fuse helps to prevent a dryer fire by shutting off power to the dryer if it overheats. If the dryer won't start check this fuse first. Test the thermal fuse with an ohm meter or continuity checker. This is the most common part to fail when the dryer won't start. Once the thermal fuse has blown, it has to be replaced. It can not be reset.
Start Switch
The start switch is on the dryer control panel. Depending on the model, either press a button or turn a dial to start the dryer. If the start switch fails the dryer won't start or make any noise. Test the switch with an ohm meter or continuity checker. If the dryer hums when the start switch is activated, or if the motor runs only while activating the start switch, the motor might be defective or something might be binding the drum preventing it from turning freely. If the dryer start switch does not have continuity when it is activated, it will need to be replaced.
Door Switch
The door switch is located near the dryer door and is activated when the door is closed. If the door switch fails, the dryer won't start at all. Most door switches will make an audible click when they are activated. If the door switch makes a clicking sound when activated it is probably not defective. If it doesn't make a click, it can be checked with an ohm meter or continuity checker. The door switch is relatively easy to replace and is usually not very expensive.

I have an intermittent problem with the dryer turning on. Sometimes it takes pressing the "on" button several times, before the dryer turns on. Once it's on, it works great! Any idea what might be starting to fail?
@sadiesmom I know this is sort of late, but it sounds like the Start Switch is going bad. I'd check your door switch as well especially if it's an older dryer. Because the start switch needs to be pressed several times, what may be going on is that the door switch isn't making proper contact right at first. Then you lean against the machine trying to push the Start Button, the door switch makes contact, and the dryer starts. Sometimes in closing the door you won't notice the click. A quick check is to try and start the dryer while using something to hold in the door switch. If it starts consistently, I'd begin to suspect the door switch, since the Start button is working flawlessly. If you get a won't start condition, try closing the door again with some force and then pressing start So check both. As Mayer said above, it isn't the thermal fuse or the machine wouldn't start at all.
Hey I have a dryer an it's blown out wen I press the start button it clicks but behind the dryer it smells like something is burnt in the dryer not sure wat it could be.when I open the dryer an rotate the inside of the dryer it's not loose to turn its kinda tight to turn so it might not be da belt it's something else that I'm not sure of.will you please help me to figure out wat could be the problem.
