iFixit Media Information
What's iFixit?
iFixit is a global repair community of people helping each other fix their stuff. We are millions of tinkerers, technicians, and volunteers working together to help people repair their devices every day. Why? Because most companies don't provide repair parts and documentation. We believe that everyone has the right to maintain and repair their products—however they see fit. Together we’re fixing the world, one broken gadget at a time!
Be sure to sign up for our Press List to receive teardowns and Right to Repair updates before anyone else.

How we got here
iFixit was founded in 2003 by Luke Soules and Kyle Wiens in a dorm room at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. It all started when the two of them tried to fix an old iBook. With no instructions, they started the way everyone does: the hard way. After some tinkering, fiddling, broken tabs, and lost screws, they finally fixed it!
As they tried to fix other devices, they had trouble finding parts, instructions, and the right tools for the job. So they bought broken computers on eBay and harvested parts. Then they decided to sell parts themselves and create repair guides for the devices they fixed… and the rest is history.
