MacBook doesn't turn on, no light on magsafe 2 charger

Hello everyone,

Last year the charger of my macbook got faulty and stopped working, also the macbook turned off.

Lately I aquired myself a new original magsafe charger 2(85 watt) but sadly this did not help. The macbook won’t turn on and the indication light on the charger stays off.

The battery wasn’t its best anymore, I did have a battery service message and sometimes the macbook would go off around 35%.

What could be the cause of the not turning on/charging? and is it fixable ?

Thanks in advance

Jeroen

If the MagSafe cord LED is not lighting that’s a sign the systems MagSafe connector needs cleaning or replacing. Review this Apple T/N Apple Portables: Troubleshooting MagSafe adapters Jump down to point #7

Thanks for the suggestion I wil take a closer look to the connector. I will recieve a pentalobe screwdriver so I can inspect the inside of the macbook and decide if i need a new DC/IO cable. I will report back if i got any results!

I ordered the parts and tools. This week I'm going to replace the mentioned parts. I will update with results.

I replaced the parts, and the magsafe does have a signal now. It's orange seeming its trying to charge. But when I press the power button I don't get any response yet. Is it possible dat its needs more time cause the macbook being drained for a long time?

by

Disconnect the battery and the MagSafe, then press and hold the power button a good minute. Now plug in the MagSafe only! The system should spontaneously start. If it doesn't then your logic board has issues! Did you have a liquid spill at one point?

by

I will try this as soon as I can. Do I connect the magsafe while i'm holding the button? I checked the board and the waterindicators, no sign of any water damage.

I have similar problem, after changing a battery, my touchpad and keyboard wouldn’t work, replaced touchpad and ribbon cable, so keyboard and touchpad back in business.

Now MagSafe charger will not light up and I can’t charge my early 2015 MacBook 13” retina.

So make it short I even changed MagSafe board and tried another charger with no results! And all started with changing a battery, did not have any problems before, just battery replacement warning. Any suggestions ? Thanks

Extremely worn battery? Miscalibration?

Does that make the charger not do anything? I did look up some articles but almost all of them talked about a macbook that could be turned on or a charger that functioned. Mine doesn't have both of the options.

Maybe try a different charger? Or try charging a different macbook with yours.

Hold the power bottonm without the MagSafe after 45 sec plug in the Magesafe while still holding down the power bottom , wait for the light then let go of the power bottom and finally press the power bottom again, always works for me , but my battery doesn't charge . I fixed a water damage and had it working perfecting for a few months, but After a Mac OS update to El Capitan it stoped working and my Camera as well , this is the only way for me to get it to work ....

Can anyone confirm whether Ruddy’s technique of holding down a power bottom before inserting the discharge unit is legitimate?
