Black screen unresponsive, wont turn on?

My Ipad was working and had 5% power remaining. I plugged it up and the next morning it would not turn on. The screen is black, no logo, and unresponsive. It wont turn on. I tried the power, home combo, home, itunes combo and just power. It is also not recognized in itunes or by the computer when I plug it up. It has a new battery so that is not the problem. Any suggestions?? Is there a fix for this? Is my data safe? This ipad is like new condition has always been in a case, never dropped, water etc.

When did you put a new battery in it? Have you tried a different cable / charger?

by

This happened to me too.

Took it to the apple store - they said its the battery but they don't replace the battery, they replace the device - for most of the price of a new one.

So I followed the guide and replaced my battery - it worked (powered on and worked - all data intact) but now it still won't charge and has just powered down.

I have tried 2 different apple 1A wall wart chargers (iPad mini & iPhone 6) and 2 different lightning cables.

I do hope someone works out how to fix this

I have the same problem. I have a new cable for it. I know the charger work because I use it for my Iphone. Please help. Still won't come on and still blackscreen.

How did I miss this question?

For iPad mini no power---

1.) It's not the charge port if there is no visible damage to the port

2.) It's not the battery---unless you just changed the battery like the OP--bad batteries are a dime a dozen--you'll need to rule that out. For everyone else, it's not the battery

3.) Have you opened your mini recently for another repair? If so, it could be a missing filter next to the battery connector---look hard for pry damage near the battery connector.

4.) If none of the above, then it is going to be non-Apple charger damage to the charging ic chip U2. This sucker is used in every lightning port device and is very susceptible to unprotected voltage fluctuations. It can be replaced as a difficult board level repair.

I wrote more detail about a lot of this in my Ultimate iPad Mini repair blog:

Hi Jessa,

I have an iPad mini with black screen. I restored it with iTunes and it restored without any problem. When I connect it to my macbook it asks me to activate the iPad.

This iPad is never dropped or repaired. Do you have any idea to fix it?

Thanks a million

by

So you have an iPad that had no display that does have power (iTunes sees it). I think you need to just open it up and try troubleshooting with known good parts and have a look at the board.

by

Jessa, I just realized another thing. When I connect it to charger it keeps making the sound that iPad normally makes once connected to power source. it chimes every 7 seconds!

by

I get an error 4005 when trying to do recovery mode from my computer.

Check inside charging port for lint or something might not be getting full connection just use one of those plastic tooth picks or something not metal to remove if something in there. Happened to my iPhone it was so flat in back didn't notice it but tried anyway and pulled a lint ball out bam it was fixed
