Best way to replace the elastic waistband in Patagonia Baggies shorts?

I have a pair of green Patagonia baggies that are about 10 years old — they’re super comfy, totally functional, and still look fantastic. Unfortunately, the elastic waistband is completely shot, so the drawstring is the only thing keeping them up. I’m not ready to retire them yet, so is it possible to replace the elastic in that waistband?

Hi Guv!

It is entirely possible to replace the waistband. If you’re looking to do it yourself, you will want to purchase one inch sewing elastic with drawstring. You’ll remove all the seams encasing the elastic and measure your desired waistband. It can be helpful to measure a pair that you like the fit on. Cut the elastic and sew it back into the shorts. If you’re searching for another option, most local tailors should be able to perform this repair!

Patagonia does not repair baggies as they are considered next to skin garments.
