How to Fix a Squeaky Bed Frame

Introduction

If your bed frame is squeaking every chance it gets when you roll around or sit down, this guide is for you. This guide is quick and easy, with tools that you most likely have in your house!

Before this guide, please make sure there isn’t any missing screws or broken parts of the frame because this guide does not show how to fix what is broken or missing. If that is the case, you must find the screws or buy to replace them.

In step six, there is an alternative step if WD-40 is not present. It can be replaced by using q-tips and vegetable oil (or any oil that is available).

Remove everything that is present on the bed frame.

Shake the bed frame from side by side to pinpoint the area of noise.

Identify the type of screw for the corresponding screwdriver.
Typically, the bed frame should be using the same type of screws throughout.

Check if the components of the bed frames are aligned.
Sometimes mismatched components causes squeakiness.

Retighten the screws within the area of noise.
It is recommended to retighten all the screws to avoid any future squeakiness but it is not required.

Spray the WD-40 into all the intersections of the bed frame.
Be careful of the spray around children and your eyes.

If WD-40 isn't present, using q-tip dipped in vegetable oil (any oil available) can be used to oil up the intersections.
